Andy Roddick was born on August 30, 1982, in Omaha, Nebraska, USA to Blanche and Jerry Roddick. His father was a rich businessman and his mother was a schoolteacher. He has two older brothers, Lawrence and John, who were both promising tennis players at a young age.

Roddick lived in Austin, Texas from age of 4. Later, at the age of 11, he moved to Boca Raton, Florida, in the interest of his brother’s tennis career.

Andy’s career started with playing for Reebok in its junior program and has won six world singles and seven doubles titles. Due to physiological changes, he was not able to concentrate on his tennis and started losing matches. He even thought of quitting tennis.

Later, with the help of his coach Tarki Benhabiles, he concentrated on tennis and became the No. 6 junior in the US. He beat Fernando Vicente of Spain and Fabrice Santoro of France in 2000.

In 2003, he played with Moroccan player Younes El Aynaoui which was five hours-long intense matches. Roddick won the quarterfinals match against him and enters to the semis of the Australian Open.

In 2005, he won the SAP Open in San Jose, California and the US Men’s Clay Court Championships. He suffered foot injury and lost to Andy Murray in Wimbledon in 2006. He hired coach, Larry Stefanki in 2009 but didn’t make to any finals of Australian Open, French Open and the ATP World Tour Masters 1000.

He lost to Roger Federer again in 2010 after suffering from the knee injury. In 2012, he played his last tournament- the US Open, but he lost in the fourth round to Martin Del Potro from Argentina.
