Early Life

Nate Diaz was born on April 16, 1985, in Stockton, California, United States to Melisa Diaz. He is an American by nationality and has English and Mexican descent.

Nate Diaz was raised along with his brother Nick Diaz. He attended Tokay High School. There is not much more information regarding his educational background.

Career

Before signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he competed for World Extreme Cagefighting. Diaz fought against Hermes Franca, who was champion before. Diaz and Hermes fought for WEC Lightweight Championship at WEC 24. Diaz lost the match by submission in the second round.

Later, Diaz joined Jen Pulver’s team to fight in The Ultimate Fighter 5. Diaz won The Ultimate Fighter 5 by defeating Gamburyan by submission.

Diaz began his professional MMA career on October 21, 2004, at WEC 12, by defeating Alex Gracia by triangle choke.

Diaz suffered his first loss in the UFC against the former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Clay Guida at UFC 94. In 2009.

Diaz’s fighting style is very similar to his brother. Nate likes to use his long arms, great cardio, and strong boxing to continually pepper opponents on his feet.

Nate Diaz faced Conor McGregor in March 2016, at UFC 196, a replacement for injured Rafael dos Anjos. Due to lack of time in cut weight, there were only 11 days preparation for the fight.

Nate beat Conor in second round by the submission and he earned his ninth submission win in the UFC.

He also earned the Performance of the Night and as well as Fight of the Night honors.

Later, Diaz lost the rematch against McGregor via majority decision in April 2016.
